The Gothic Cohesion

The Gothic cohesion will initially involve the publication of local info with regard to Gothic living. I will be designing this as a community website which all can access. However my vision long term is to branch out several subdivisions around the UK (who knows where it will end).

This is why I am also looking for enthusiastic web designers who have a good knowledge and understanding of website script writing and editing (including the creation of online user accounts, calendars and forms), dreamweaver, flash, graphics and application of music to websites.

After completing some online research I have found many web sites are decades out of date, or only cater for particular niches of Gothic and alternative living. However the concept for this website will be more like an online reference site. Of course there will be the mandatory website calendar to display forth coming events and there will be a section for promoters. However organisations, bands, groups, shops, events and so forth will be able to create a business card which can hold photos, links, and any information you could possibly want to display to the world.

This will enable us to catalogue what is out there. Hopefully then we can apply this to a custom map to give people visual stimulus to work out what is near them. Whether this be a fixed shop or regular events to one of gigs.

We can then link to all the social network sites that our users enjoy, thus eliminating the need to social spaces within the actual website itself (why re-design the wheel when someone’s already done it to death?)

Therefore I guess the mission of this website is to provide people with space to investigate and search for things happening in our area and to promote themselves to assist in Gothic community cohesion. I am sure that people will then be able to network of their own accord.

I am currently looking for several people to assist in this development.

I for-see needing help with

·         Web design

·         Gathering information and keeping it up to date

·         Benefactors which will help fund and run our community site.

·         Enthusiastic distributors to help spread the word.

This community development will not occur overnight and will take several months of trial and error. However it is still my strong belief that community cohesion should underpin our society and build foundations from which people can trade, socialise and learn.
